From the age of 14, young people can expect to take an increasing role in the planning and management of their Scouting Activities. They may join one or more Explorer Scout Units. These are organised by the Central Notts. District and typically comprise members who have come through a number of Scout Groups.

The Peppers Explorer Unit is based at Pepperpots and has an agreement to use 3W Group facilities in exchange for supporting the activities of our Sections. The Unit is open to young men and women from the ages of 14 to 18. You do not have to have been a Scout or a Guide to join an Explorer Unit. Please note, however, that parental approval to join is required and that we expect parents of the Peppers Explorers members to meet the same conditions of support as those in the other sections.

Have a look at Scoutbase to see more information about Explorers.

The Scout Promise is:

On My Honour, I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and to the Queen,
To help other people
And to keep the Scout Law

The Scout Law is:

A Scout is to be trusted
A Scout is loyal
A Scout is friendly and considerate
A Scout belongs to the worldwide family of Scouts
A Scout has courage in all difficulties
A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property
A Scouts has self-respect and respect for others

One of the things that makes Scouting different from many youth organisations is that we have a uniform. Explorer Scouts wear a mushroom coloured shirt and navy blue activity trousers.

In addition, they wear a District necker and not the red/blue 3W one.
